Company bagh

Located in the heart of Amritsar, Company Bagh is more than just a public garden — it’s a space where history, nature, and local life blend together. Also known as Ram Bagh, this sprawling garden was originally developed in the early 19th century by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the legendary Sikh ruler of the Punjab Empire.
The garden was modeled on the Mughal-style Shalimar Bagh of Lahore, reflecting lush landscaping, elegant water channels, and beautiful pavilions. At its center stands the Ram Bagh Palace, once the summer residence of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Today, this palace serves as a museum that holds priceless relics, weapons, paintings, and manuscripts from the era of Sikh rule.

During British rule, the garden was renamed Company Bagh, a term commonly used by the British for cantonment-style gardens. While the name stuck, the essence of the place remained deeply Punjabi.
